Some of the store sales that are the most confusing involve ads that are meant to save us the most money!
This is an ad from this week’s Kroger sales circular. You can clearly see on the Big K promotion that you must buy all 4 cases to get the $9 price. The Campbell’s soup has a similar ad with 4 for $3, but with no further wording – you are safe to think that they are really 75-cents each?
So, if in doubt how do you tell? The easiest thing that I do is to use the scanners that are mounted around the store. I have found that they are set to assume that you have a discount card and will show you the sale price. If I used a scanner today, the soup would show for 75-cents, but the soft drinks would scan as $2.39 (regular price).
Luckily, our stores are getting better at distinguishing between these types of sales (and many are doing away with them all together), but don’t be afraid to ask customer service if you remain unsure!
€¦ and remember, there’s no cents in paying full price! Understand the sales and grab the best deals.
