Grocery stores are sneaky. I don’t think that they set out to be, but it just happens. We are, for the most part, impulse shoppers and lets face it  €“ flashy and shiny catches our eye.

Many people just shop the endcaps without even realizing it. They have the chips and the cookies and the sodas, as well as the items with the new packaging that looks amazing, but in truth probably contains 3-6 ounces less than the box you bought just last week.

The other major thing that we fall prey to in the grocery store is misleading labels.

Sale or Low price label

Be very careful when you are looking at the labels on store shelves, we are seeing a new wave of these types of tags. They are great for making prices readable, but many are misled. One says “low price” and the other says “sale price”.

Low price means that is the new, permanent price of that item. No real need to stockpile  €“ if you come back next week, it will still be 59-cents!

Sometimes understanding the grocery lingo is 90% of the battle.

€¦ and remember, there’s no cents in paying full price!  Look for those SALE PRICE tags and take advantage!
