UPS Lifesaver

I don’t know about you, but online shopping is a complete necessity for me during the Christmas holiday season. I wish that I had the time to cruise the aisles of the mall, but it’s not a reality. And, honestly, I’d rather be home wrapping presents and baking sweets than trying to find a parking place and getting elbowed 1,000 times in Toys R Us.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m an Amazon Prime member (completely worth the money) and aside from that, I truly believe that there are an equal number of great deals that can be found online. So, unless you just get a complete rush from crowds  €“ you probably are ordering more and more from the web as well.

Amazon and most of my other favorite retailers use UPS, so I was in heaven when I learned about the service called “UPS My Choice“. The program launched last year and I have enjoyed the benefits of this little beauty since then.

As with most things in life, there is a free version and a paid version. I’ve used only the free version  €“ here’s what you get:

• Delivery alerts (text, phone, or email the day before your package arrives)
• Approximate delivery time (when possible, you’ll get an estimated time frame for the delivery)
• Authorize shipment release (you can give authorization online for UPS to leave a package w/out a signature)
• Hold for will-call (request packages to be held for pickup at a UPS facility)

For $5 per instance, you can get the following options:

• Deliver to a UPS retail location
• Reschedule a delivery
• Deliver to another address

This is one of those things that you should sign up for because it’s free  €“ if you never use it, no loss. But, I guarantee that the first time that you’ve forgotten you had it and it pings that your delivery is coming soon  €“ you’ll love it!
