1 Samuel 1:27-28 – “I prayed for this child, and God gave me what I asked for. And now I have dedicated him to God. He’s dedicated to God for life.”

There are not enough words, enough hugs, or enough kisses to ever get across how much I love you. From your very birth, you have been nothing but pure joy. These last six years you have filled our hearts and our home with laughter … you are a most precious gift.

I’m a little sad that you are six. It sounds so “boy” … no longer “little boy-ish”. But, after seeing all that you learned when you were five, I’m anxious to see you continue to grow. You can now play on the computer by yourself, get yourself completely dressed from head to toe, and can operate any electronic device known to man. But, when I look and see you sitting on the couch reading a chapter book … I know that you getting a little older is hard for me, but so very good for you.

I love your kind spirit, your sweet nature, your silly giggle, the way you raise your eyebrows when you are trying to convince us of something, the way you love to teach your sister all the things you think she should know. I love the way you can recite every infomercial and run to tell me how it will make my life easier. I love that you are worried that I’ve only played Mario Kart one time and were sad when I finished last. I love to hear you pick out the harmony parts on the radio, pray the sweetest prayers, and worry about people that aren’t treated fairly … you have the most compassionate soul.

Most of all, I love who you are and that I get a front row seat  €“ for the rest of my life  €“ to see all that you become. You are a blessing to my life every second of every day, and I will love you, no matter what, until my last breath.

Happy Birthday, Punky. I love you!

Mommy
