He loves her so much!

He loves her so much!

Today is Avery’s last day of Kindergarten. He’s excited about the summer and all the fun that it brings when you’re a 5 year old boy, but me … I’m sad.

I’m sad because he’s had a wonderful teacher. She has nurtured his class far beyond the call of duty. I can’t imagine a better teacher. I truly wish that he could have her for the next 12 years.

Last summer, I began praying that Avery would have a teacher that would be a perfect fit for him. He’s very sensitive, and I was very worried that someone harsh or with a less than compassionate heart would   make for a very hard year. He has always loved learning and has a natural desire to always know the most information that he can. I knew that I had to pray for the perfect match, so that he would be encouraged to continue making the most of his education.

Mrs. Gates has really been a dream come true for our family. I could go on and on about all of the amazing things that she has done with her class and for the children individually. She is truly second to none, and I can’t imagine what our first year would have been like had it not had her smiling face as the leader.

I cried as I dropped him off at the door of the school this morning. And, I’ve cried twice since then. Sappy, I know. I’m so sad to see such a great year end and so excited to see what’s in store for the future.

Most of all, I’m grateful for all of the teachers, friends, and parents that we’ve met along the way.
