So, this is the post where I make new year’s resolutions that I will keep throughout January and then abandon with guilt on February 1. But, there is some strength to setting these mythical goals … and upon looking back at mine for 2010 (which I couldn’t even recall) – I realized that I actually made good on one and a half of them! I did complete the 365/Photo per day project and although I didn’t start a women’s group, I did make and develop closer relationships with women in my community.
What does 2011 hold? My husband’s company has been purchased by another so it could mean many things for us. The kids are getting older and more involved with outside activities which always brings a certain “unknown” as to how it will affect our schedule, so that’s on the horizon as well.
I adapt and embrace change, so I’m good with whatever 2011 brings.
As I said last year, I’m not much of a dreamer. Dreams of living in the big house on the hill or making a million dollars or owning my own business are not things that I strive for. Vision boards and all the other things that are hip right now just seem unrealistic to me (*) … I’m living in the now. I’m trusting that God’s plan for me is already in place and is perfect (Jeremiah 29:11) – all I have to do is live it out.
But what can I do to make the most of the year? These are my 2011 resolutions:
1) Still need to lose 20 pounds. I have some motivators this year though – 20 year class reunion and a vacation cruise. Enough said.
2) Live clutter-free. I have no idea how so much paper comes into this house. I can’t seem to get a handle on every room at the same time!
3) Meal plan every month. It makes it so much easier (and cheaper) when I do this.
4) Track coupon savings. I haven’t done this in 2 years. I’m anxious to see how much we are saving now vs. 2008. Our spending has changed and my shopping has changed. I’d like to see how it all lines up as I’ve developed my coupon use.
That’s it. Nothing that’s unattainable.
*No offense to the dreamers. It’s just not something I can get into.
