My curly girly,
Where has the time gone? How can it be that you are 6 years old today? Words can never do justice to the gift that you are to me. You make the world go round with your sweet smile and contagious laughter.
You are my shadow … under my feet and within an inch of my body whenever we are together. In the morning, you sit on the bathmat while I take a shower talking about whatever comes to mind. You get ready and dressed as I do. We fix our hair together. We put on make-up (lip gloss & blush in your case) … side-by-side. You’ve learned to pick out my jewelry and know the importance of good accessories. My own little resident €œFancy Nancy €.
At night, you sit by me at the dinner table. If you want to read, you snuggle next to me on the couch. You love to watch TV beside me and can’t wait to be on €œSo You Think You Can Dance? €. It just won’t do for anyone else to tuck you in at bedtime. I’m the first to kiss you in the morning and the last to kiss you at night.
I can’t tell you how much I enjoy these moments together every single day. You aren’t going to want to be by my side for much longer. You will eventually want room to breathe and spread your wings … and I’m ok with that. But, I am certainly soaking up every minute that I get with you now.
My adorable baby girl is growing up. I’ve loved being your mommy so much. Your heart is larger than it would seem that your petite, little body could hold. You love to love … and I hope that never changes.
May 6 years old be a year of dreams for you. Have fun. Be silly. Laugh and giggle and pretend. Play until your imagination can’t go any further. Take advantage of all that being 6 has to offer.
Precious Piper … you light up the world.
I love you,
Mommy

Your precious note to your daughter gave me a knot in my throat…I have a six year old, too…born 9/24/04 and she and her sister are the light of my life. I, too, wonder what I will do when they spread their wings to fly. But I love it now, and plan to take advantage of every moment. Happy birthday, Piper, and God bless you, Steph, for the parent you have become. I miss you when I look at your page… (And Katie says she wishes she could meet your little girl…she wants to play with her…She asked, “Can we go to Texas sometime, please?” when I told her where you lived…so sweet…
I forgot my closing parentheses!OMG! English teacher nightmare!
