I came across a remarkable quote this morning and it has stayed with me provoking a lot of thought.
“Skate to where the puck is headed, not where it’s been.” Wayne Gretzky
I can relate this to nearly every area of my life: work, home, child-rearing, marriage … it’s all applicable.
I’ve recently found myself at quite a crossroads. I have a million things that I want to do – a wealth of great ideas just waiting to be brought to fruition. Reading this quote made me think about how bringing those ideas to life now puts me ahead of the puck … putting them on the back burner allows others to pass me by.
This is a constant struggle for me as I try to balance work vs. home; as well as creative vs. reactive.
I’ll be traveling quite a bit over the next 5 days. My goal for myself is to really ponder how I’m doing at this and what I have to shed in order to stay ahead of the puck in the areas that are really important to me.
