ABOUT

There's a story behind all these stories.

Teacher. Creative. Writer. Wife. Mom. Traveler. Chronic oversharer.

I’ve spent more than three decades teaching, creating, leading, writing, and collecting stories along the way. Somewhere in there, I also started putting a ridiculous amount of my life on the internet.

THE SHORT VERSION

I’ve never really had just one thing.

I’ve spent most of my adult life in classrooms, gyms, stadiums, rehearsal spaces, airports, and behind a computer screen, sometimes all in the same week.

Teaching has been the constant. Creativity has been the thread running through everything else. Over the years, I’ve taught thousands of students, designed and choreographed for programs across the country, worked in digital marketing, raised a family, traveled whenever I could, and somehow kept writing about all of it.

This website has been part of that story for more than twenty years. It has changed because I have. What started as a place to share pieces of my life has become a place to make sense of it.

A FEW THINGS THAT MADE ME, ME

The through line has always been people.

The Work

The People

The Life

THE PART THAT DOESN’T FIT ON A RÉSUMÉ

A life can hold a lot of chapters.

I grew up in a small town in Kentucky and somehow built a life that has taken me into classrooms, football stadiums, arenas, airports, rehearsal spaces, hospital rooms, and more hotel rooms than I could ever count.

I married a percussion guy, raised two kids in the marching arts, moved to Texas, built a career around teaching and creativity, spent years working in digital marketing, traveled whenever I could, survived breast cancer, lost people I love, and learned—sometimes the hard way—that life rarely follows the version of the plan you had in your head.

Somewhere along the way, I also became a person who writes things down.

The older I get, the less interested I am in pretending the chapters all fit neatly together. They don’t. But they all belong to the same story.

Still figuring it out. Still writing it down.

IF YOU’VE MADE IT THIS FAR …

I’m glad you’re here.

I’ve never believed we have to have everything figured out before we talk about it. This is a place for the things I’m learning, the places I’m going, the work I care about, and the stories I don’t want to forget.

Look around. Read something. Stay awhile. And if something here makes you think, laugh, remember, or feel a little less alone in the world, then I’m really glad we found each other.
