Happy Thanksgiving BannerI’ve been hard at work tonight making our Thanksgiving menu and shopping list. The last several years, we’ve been in Disney World for Thanksgiving the past couple of years. The act of what to serve for Thanksgiving has fallen off my radar!

Sometimes it just feels good to get back to the basics. For me, that means, 1 sheet of notebook paper with a big vertical line drawn down the middle. On the left side, I write what I am making  €“ on the right side, I write a grocery list.

Here’s what I ended up with:

Appetizers: Cheese Fondue and Deviled Eggs

Entrees: Turkey and ham (overload I know, but 2 of us are turkey lovers and 2 are ham lovers. Therefore, we have both!)

Side Dishes: Mashed Potatoes, Potato Salad, Broccoli Casserole, Dressing, and Peas

Dessert: Pumpkin Crunch Cake (my most re-pinned recipe) and Chex Mix

My recipe for Deviled Eggs comes from the Naomi’s Home Companion: A Treasury of Favorite Recipes, Food for Thought and Country Wit and Wisdom Cookbook. I know that it’s going to sound bizarre, but it’s the best cookbook I own. Probably because it’s real people food. It’s worth the buy if you need a cookbook.

The only thing that I’m absolutely sure of is this  €“ I’ll make enough to feed 1o families. I don’t know why or how it always happens, but it always does. I’m going to try to do better this year! Goodness knows we’ll be sick of it by Saturday!
