Summer is officially here … well, as soon as school is out – I count that as “summer”. I think we have a few more weeks until the calendar agrees with us 🙂
Trying to keep kids occupied during the break from school is a trying task to say the least, but there are some great resources and some tips that can make it a little easier.
If you are looking into camps and daycare, always be sure to ask for a sibling discount if you are registering more than one child. (It never hurts to ask! Don’t be embarrassed.) If you are choosing between several and the prices are comparable, make sure you know what is included in the price. Will they supply meals? What about snacks? Will there be “hidden fees” like transportation costs, material charges, or mandatory camp shirts, etc. Sometimes the differences in “what is covered” will help make your decision!
Houston has a wonderful museum district. You can find a full list here. Check out the sites that interest you and your kids – contact the museums and ask for discount days, free workshops, anything that might make a trip a little more worthwhile. (Do the same for the zoo, the theater, and any other place that your kids like to frequent!)

Finally, we all know what great memories are made at Vacation Bible School. My kids BEG to go … and they are not even phased by the fact that they might not know anyone!!!
