I am in true mourning over the loss of Dixie Carter. I absoultely loved every role she ever played. What a good, moral woman she seemed to be. Kept herself out of the tabloids and on the screen … Couldn’t modern-day Hollywood take a lesson in that?
I first remember Dixie Carter’s work on “Different Strokes”. I would come home from school every day and watch that show. It was my favorite. Many times, in that era, a sitcom would add on additional stars and change the story line as things were fading. Sort-of a last ditch effort to save the series. Often, I hated the changes … I’m a traditionalist, remember? When Maggie and Sam joined the series, I liked it. A huge applaud to the writers, of course, but also to her ability to create an engaging character.
Then, there is Designing Women. The greatest sitcom of all time, in my opinion. I’ve seen every episode at least one-hundred times! Really. I love that show. Several Christmas’ ago, Don got me an autographed picture of the women in the original cast. I treasure that picture … even more so now!
I’m a wanna-be Julia with Suzanne’s brain. Not a good combination most days 🙂
Julia and her speeches made this show a must-see. If I could put together words like this, I’d be yelling at people all over town. Here are my two favorites:
