currently watching - February 2019My Netflix queue loving it’s life right now. The Christmas holidays allowed more time for catching up on television shows and movies that I’ve been dying to watch for quite some time. I see so many people asking for recommendations on what to watch, so without further adieu …

Here are some great choices that I recommend:

The Duchess –
This is a 2008 film with Kiera Knightly. It literally had me googling the entire time to see if this is actually what happened to this beautiful Duchess of Devonshire! (Disclaimer: Don’t watch this film with your kids.) PS – the Duchess was the great-great-great aunt of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Following the tumultuous life of the 18th-century Duchess of Devonshire, a bright, popular aristocrat who is trapped in a failed marriage and has to face personal conflicts – including living with her husband’s mistress and falling passionately in love with a young politician. Based on Amanda Foreman’s bestselling novel `Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire’.

Dumplin’ –
My husband and I watched this movie and absolutely loved it. Another fantastic Netflix original for sure! Jennifer Aniston is absolutely fantastic in her role as a pageant mom. The director, Anne Fletcher, also did 27 Dresses and The Proposal, so if you liked those romantic comedies – give this one a shot too!

The plus-size, teenage daughter of a former beauty queen signs up for her mum’s pageant as a protest that escalates when other contestants follow in her footsteps, revolutionizing the pageant and their small Texas town.

Dynasty – 2 Seasons, 1 on Netflix & 1 currently airing
This series is the NEW version of the iconic 80s soap opera. It airs in real time on the CW network, but Netflix currently has Season 1. I started watching this with a friend over the summer and we could not stop binge-ing it! I love the cast, the character development, and the plot twists.

Wealth, power, deception, and double-dealing… what does it take to build a dynasty? A modern re-imagining of the iconic prime time soap, centering on the powerful Carrington family as they defend their throne against the Colby’s, new rivals and threats, and even each other.

Gilmore Girls – 7 Seasons
I know that I’m late to the party, but I completely missed the Gilmore Girls boat in prime time. Talk about a series that I couldn’t stop watching … and honestly, one that I’ll watch again. I saw myself and people that I knew in this series, and fell in love with every character!

Set in a storybook Connecticut town populated by an eclectic mix of dreamers, artists and everyday folk, this multi-generational drama about family and friendship centres around Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter, Rory. Lorelai owns the town’s bed-and-breakfast, the Dragonfly Inn, with best friend/chef Sookie, and contends with weekly dinners with eccentric, well-off parents Richard and Emily Gilmore (who always have something to say about their daughter’s life).

Do you love the Gilmore Girls and want to own the complete set on DVD, Amazon carries it! (affiliate)
