Consignment Sales
This is the time of year to start thinking about another season of clothes! Yes, I know that it’s still 400-degrees every day in Texas, but the organizers of consignment sales don’t know that. They are ready for us to load up on next season’s duds and get our thoughts on to cooler temps!
If you haven’t consigned before or been to a sale, this is what you’ll find: nicer than yard sale quality merchandise. Clothes (some sales allow children and adult), toys, sports equipment, furniture/strollers, and shoes. Most sales are meticulous about the items being in excellent condition – no stains, fading, rips/tears. For me, that says a lot.
I love buying clothes for my kids and probably shop way more than I should for them. But, I find a lot of great deals at these sales – especially when it comes to items that won’t get much wear because of our mild weather. I buy sweaters, coats, and extra dressy items on consignment, because I know that they won’t get much wear and I don’t want to spend a fortune on something that might only see the light of day twice!
Many sales also allow outside vendors to set up. This is one of my favorite parts. I’ve found a lot of great local boutiques, photographers, and shops at these events. I love to buy local when I can and these are the hidden gem places that I might not ever happen upon otherwise.
If you are in Houston, these are a few sales that I personally love: Penny Pinching Mamas, Just Between Friends, and Rhea Lana’s. Look at each of these sites closely – they do sales all over the city and there is probably one that is close to you. I also recommend “googling” to see if your area has a “Mothers of Multiples” club. My kids aren’t multiples, but they were born very close together, so we had need for a double stroller and anything else that came “double”. These clubs also often do consignment sales.
If you have a sale that you love … leave it in the comments section so that other can check it out!
… and remember, there’s no cents in paying full price! Let’s plan ahead and save even more than just time in the kitchen!!!
