Music Is the Song of My Life
Friday, July 2nd, 2010For as long as I can remember, I’ve absolutely loved music. I’ve loved singing it, playing it, hearing it, studying it …. it’s a huge part of who I am.
I love finding new music and finding new arrangements of favorites from the past. One of the shows that has done that for me is “So You Think You Can Dance”. Last season, they introduced me to one of my now favorite artists Roisin Murphy. Ramalama (Bang Bang) and Ruby Blue are so catchy! In fact, one of my husband’s percussion ensembles even performed an arrangement of Ramalama.
This week, I heard another tune that has captured my heart – Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri. It’s an amazing and moving piece that is absolutely gorgeous.
Like so many songs, the lyrics remind me of a former friend and a different time in my life. Isn’t that what makes us love music so often? The lyrics take us back to a different time or place in our life …. or somewhere that we’d like to be.
Is there a song you love right now? Leave the name/artist in the comments. I’ll check it out!
